Giant Food, a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize, has partnered with Loop, a recycling platform developed by TerraCycle, to offer a range of products in reusable packaging.
As part of the partnership, 10 Giant supermarkets will offer more than 20 leading consumer brands in reusable packaging rather than single-use packaging.
“Giant is proud to be the first East Coast grocery retailer to partner with Loop, the world leader in waste reduction, to provide our customers with quality products,” said Diane Coachman, vice president of category management for non-perishables at Giant. Food and services.” The program allows them to purchase products while helping the environment.
”We look forward to expanding our Loop product range and expanding it to more Giant stores in the near future.”
Products in reusable Loop containers come from a variety of brands, including Kraft Heinz and Nature’s Path.
These containers are sent to Loop to be sanitized, returned to the CPG supplier for refills, and returned to the store for future purchases.
Ahold Delhaize noted that buyers must pay a small packaging deposit at checkout and receive a full refund if the container is returned.
Loop has consulted with cleaning and sanitation solutions provider Ecolab Inc. to ensure that all reusable containers meet best sanitation standards.
